Guidelines for Scientific Exchanges under ISJRP


General Rules

The funding agency of the  visiting scientist
- covers the costs of his/her international travel (economy class at the lowest available price)

The funding agency of the hosting scientist
- covers the costs of accommodation and living of the visiting scientist
covers the costs of in-country travels of the visiting scientist provided that these travles are connected with the joint project

The hosting scientist
- arranges for adequate accommodation for the visiting scientist

Each Principal Investigator is responsible for the salaries and insurances to be paid to its exchanged or assigned personnel. The insurance should cover health, workplace and non-workplace accidents.

Please note that ISJRP will not cover any costs caused by illness or accidents.

Inform the Swiss Programme Office about the visit Swiss partner
Issue letter of invitation for Indian guest Swiss Programme Office
Apply for permission of entry (through institution) Swiss partner
Apply for visa at the Swiss Consulate in Mumbai or at the Embassy of Switzerland in Delhi Indian partner
Procure health insurance covering workplace and non-workplace accidents for the duration of the stay in Switzerland Indian partner
Arrange accommodation for Indian guest Swiss partner


Allowances for visiting scientists from India
  Short-term visits (up to two weeks):
- Faculty members
- Students (Ph.D students & postdoctoral students)
- CHF 160.- per diem
- CHF 120.- per diem
Long-term visits (more than two weeks):
- Faculty members
- Students (Ph.D students & postdoctoral students)
- CHF 3,200 per month
- CHF 2,500 per month

Specify aim and duration of visit Swiss and Indian partner
Inform the Indian Programme Office about the visit Indian partner
Apply for a visa at the Embassy of India in Berne Swiss partner
If required, obtain Letter of Invitation and work permission for the Swiss guest Indian partner
Check whether vaccinations are needed Swiss partner
Check whether (additional) health insurance covering workplace and non-workplace accidents for the duration of the stay in Switzerland Swiss partner
Arrange accommodation for Swiss guest Indian partner


Allowances for visiting scientists from Switzerland
  Short-term visits (up to 30 days):
Faculty members and students Rs. 1,000/- per day plus guest house accommodation
Long-term visits (more than 30 days):
Faculty members and students Rs. 700/- per day for the days exceeding 30 days plus guest house accommodation
